Forbes Technology Council Post Coverage
When a tech team launches a new project, it’s always with the hope that they’re setting out to create a great product that will delight users. However, not every tech project is destined to reach the finish line. Sometimes, a tech company must cut its losses and pull the plug on a project, no matter how much initial enthusiasm it generated or how personally invested the team might be.
It’s essential for tech leaders to learn (and accept) the clear, objective signs that a project—even one they’ve personally championed—simply isn’t viable. Below, 16 industry leaders from Forbes Technology Council share several signs that it’s probably time to pull the plug on a floundering tech project.
The clear sign that no one should ignore is a lack of realized, targeted value. Ongoing analysis should look at the values obtained (if any) against the original projected values or pivoted values; then compare how these values fit with current and future needs. If there is nothing there, move on to what is needed. Have teams assist the deployment of another win until you have the next big thing. – Jim Barrett, CEO Edge Total Intelligence
